Biography

Anke Tresch holds a PhD in political science from the University of Zurich. She joined FORS in 2017 as Head of group “Political Surveys”. In addition, she is an Associate Professor ad personam in the Institute of Political, Historical and International Studies at the University of Lausanne, where she teaches a seminar in quantitative methods focusing on the analysis of election campaigns. Before joining FORS, she was a SNSF Research Professor at the University of Lausanne and a Guest Professor at the University of Vienna.

Expertise

Anke Tresch’s work focuses on the comparative analysis of election campaigns and voting behaviour, issue ownership as a theory of electoral behaviour and party competition, political communication, and Swiss politics. She currently directs a SNSF sponsored project on the dynamics of party competition in multiparty democracies, and is a co-investigator of a new project on the determinants and effects of the short-term dynamics in voters’ issue ownership evaluations.

She previously was a co-leader of a project on the mediatisation of political decision-making in Switzerland, which was part of the Comparative Agendas Project and the NCCR Democracy. At FORS, Anke Tresch is responsible for data collection and analysis within the Swiss Election Studies (Selects) and Voto.
