Biography

Marlène Sapin holds a PhD in social sciences from the University of Lausanne. She also has a master degree in psychology and sociology of communication from the University of Fribourg. She hold research and teaching positions at the University of Neuchâtel, Geneva and Lausanne. From 2008 onwards, she has been working on the international social surveys of FORS. Since 2010, she is one of the two representatives of Switzerland in the International Social Survey Programme (ISSP) and member of its Methodological Committee since 2013. In 2017, she was chosen as the co-leader of the Drafting Group of the ISSP 2017 module on Social Networks and Social Resources.

Expertise

Marlène Sapin has 15 years of experience in designing and implementing complex social surveys in general populations or specific vulnerable subgroups. She has a strong expertise in questionnaire design and measurement quality in cross-national research. Her research interests focus on measurement quality, life course research, social networks analysis, (mental) health, and social resources and stresses, during some specific life course transitions or across national contexts. With researchers from the Swiss Centre of Expertise in Lifecourse Research LIVES, she is currently co-leading the next Federal Survey on Youth ch-x 2020/2021 on personal networks of young adults.
