UNIL staff satisfaction survey

Information leaflet

Presentation of the survey

The UNIL Rectorate, represented by the Human Resources Department (SRH), has mandated IDHEAP (Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration) and FORS (Swiss Centre of Expertise in the Social Sciences) to carry out an employee satisfaction survey, with a particular focus on remote work. The aim of this survey is to gain a better understanding of your day-to-day experience, the difficulties and positive aspects you may have encountered in your professional activities as an employee of UNIL. The results of the survey will help better direct and target future measures.

To carry out this survey successfully, we ask you to complete a questionnaire, which should take around 15 minutes.

It is entirely up to you whether you choose to partake in the project or not. You may refuse to answer certain questions at any time, or even terminate the questionnaire, without any prejudice to you.

Data collection

The questionnaire is programmed and hosted on the Qualtrics XM commercial data collection platform – hereinafter “the platform” – which specializes in providing survey management solutions. The platform is owned by Qualtrics LLC – hereinafter “Qualtrics” – which is based in the United States and acts as a subcontractor for the questionnaire (contact and data collection).

Invitations to participate in the survey are managed via the platform with a contact list provided to Qualtrics by FORS. Addresses, names and other contact information are exclusively used for communication purposes and are in no way linked to the answers submitted.

Qualtrics may collect IP addresses and browser location data to enable certain functions, such as interrupting and resuming your response later. However, these data are permanently deleted at the end of the collection process and are in no way linked to the answers submitted, nor transmitted to FORS, IDHEAP or UNIL.

Throughout the collection process, data is recorded and stored encrypted on Qualtrics servers in the UE. Once collection is complete, all data is encrypted and stored on secure servers in Switzerland and permanently deleted from Qualtrics servers. For more information on Qualtrics, please visit their website.

Confidentiality

Once the data has been collected, FORS will proceed to de-identify responses for conservation purposes. All information that directly identifies you will be permanently deleted. Variables which, through cross-referencing or any other statistical operation, could make deducing your identity possible will be subject to specific processing (e.g. aggregation) designed to permanently reduce the risks of re-identification as much as possible.

De-identified data will be transmitted to IDHEAP, which will carry out statistical analyses and draft an anonymized report that will be submitted to the Rectorate and made public. The report will present aggregated information only. It will be impossible to identify you.

De-identified data will be stored on secure servers to which only IDHEAP and the UNIL IT Center (Ci) have access. Additional analyses may be carried out by IDHEAP at the exclusive request of the Rectorate or Human Resources Department. Only IDHEAP and FORS are authorized to carry out these analyses. The results will only be forwarded to the Rectorate and Human Resources Department in a form that does not allow specific respondents to be identified. Any attempt to isolate individuals is strictly forbidden.
