About the panel survey methods workshops
After the great success of the 2006 Conference on Methodology of Longitudinal Surveys 2006, at the University of Essex, organizers and participants agreed to create a workshop to continue the discussion on methods for panel survey.
Thus two years later the first Panel Survey Methods Workshop was held, again hosted by ISER at the University of Essex.
The format of the workshop is similar to those of the International Total Survey Error Workshop or the Nonresponse Workshop focusing on in-depth discussion of methodological research currently conducted in the specific field. Summaries of the work presented at the workshop is therefore shared among researchers prior to the workshop and presentations are kept to five minutes only highlighting the main issues.
The workshop is held every other year and has been organized:
– in 2008 in Colchester (hosted by ISER)
– in 2010 in Mannheim (hosted by MZES and MEA)
– in 2014 in Ann Arbor (hosted by ISR)
– in 2016 in Berlin (histed by DIW)
– in 2018 in Colchester (special MOLS 2 conference
The next venue will be Lausanne, Switzerland in 2020.
Workshop participants have been organizing sessions at research conferences to further dissiminate the workshops research agenda.Sessions have been organized at the Conferences of the European Survey Research Assciation, AAPOr, RC33 and elsewhere
The workshop is organized by a semi-permanent scientific committee consisting of:
– Peter Lynn (University of Essex)
– Annette Jackle (University of Essex)
– Mick Couper (University of Michigan
– Nicole Watson (University of Melbourne)
