Elfie Swerts has a PhD in Geography from the University Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, with specialization in urban studies, and statistical and spatial analysis. She has conducted research on the demographic and socio-economic dynamics of Chinese and Indian cities from the 1950s. At FORS since 2019, she leads the project group in charge of establishing the Research Data Linking Center and contribute to the development of the global strategy and missions of the Center.
Elfie Swerts' methodological research has focused on statistical and spatial analysis, modelling and mapping of urban dynamics, based on the construction and the management of large demographic and socio-economic database. She also worked on network analysis focusing on firms’ networks and cluster development. As a senior researcher at FORS, she develops conceptual, applied and methodological research on data linking as well as she strengthens her expertise in project management.
