From now on, the Research Inventory will be published through the new application FORSbase. It contains information on current research in the field of social sciences in Switzerland and covers at the moment over 10’000 descriptions of research projects conducted in universities, the private sector or administration.
The Research inventory features information from several sources:
- an annual survey conducted by FORS (formerly SIDOS) since 1993 of universities, universities of applied sciences, public adminstration, and private research institutions;
- updates by participating researchers of project descriptions which have already been published in the research inventory;
- data exchanges with institutions that dispose of their own project database.
In order to ensure an improved visibility of Swiss research in the social sciences on an international level, FORS transmits the collected research information to the SOFIS database at GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences.
